2-d Analogues of Allen Interval Algebra for Image Analysis: towards Justification
نویسنده
چکیده
In reasoning about time and duration, researchers often use Allen’s Interval Algebra. This algebra describes possible relations between 1-D intervals. An interval can precede the other one, follow the other one, start the other one, etc. This algebra describes the relationship between different intervals in terms of words from natural language. To give a natural language description of 2D images, it is desirable to develop a similar approach for describing the relationship between 2-D objects in a picture. In their recent papers, Jim Keller and his collaborators proposed a new approach based on a simulation of a “force” between these objects. In this paper, we show that their force formula is theoretically optimal.

متن کاملApplication of Genetic Algorithms for Pixel Selection in MIA-QSAR Studies on Anti-HIV HEPT Analogues for New Design Derivatives
Quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) analysis has been carried out with a series of 107 anti-HIV HEPT compounds with antiviral activity, which was performed by chemometrics methods. Bi-dimensional images were used to calculate some pixels and multivariate image analysis was applied to QSAR modelling of the anti-HIV potential of HEPT analogues by means of multivariate calibration,...

متن کاملOn dimensions of derived algebra and central factor of a Lie algebra
Some Lie algebra analogues of Schur's theorem and its converses are presented. As a result, it is shown that for a capable Lie algebra L we always have dim L=Z(L) 2(dim(L2))2. We also give give some examples sup- porting our results.
متن کاملTractable approximations for temporal constraint handling
Relation algebras have been used for various kinds of temporal reasoning. Typically the network satisfaction problem turns out to be NP-hard. For the Allen interval algebra it is often convenient to use the propagation algorithm. This algorithm is sound and runs in cubic time but it is not complete. Here we deene a series of tractable algorithms that provide approximations to solving the networ...
